    AICC general secretary and leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha gulam Nabi Azad today asserted that a strong alliance including the congress party is the need of the house in Tamilnadu.

      In an informal chat with newspersons here today,Mr.Azad who is here to take part in the function organized by the pcc to felicitate Mahe congress legislator E Valsaraj for completion of his 25 years service as a legislator,Mr.Azad said whether in alliance with the DMK or not it is his usual practice to meet DMK chief M karunanidhi whenever he come to Chennai.The friendship between the two are 40 years old,he said adding that  he used to have political discussions also with him.

      He said it is highly necessary to form a strong alliance in Tamilnadu including the congress and  due discussion would be held with the Tamilnadu congress leaders  to hear their views.Similarly,the local congress  leaders would be consulted in respect of alliance  and a decision on alliance would be taken only after that,he added.

      Mr.Azad said that he had camped for three days in Kerala to have an on the spot assessment of the political situation there.After Puducherry,he will camp in Tamilnadu to study the political situation there,he said adding that  it is highly essential to know the polticial situation in each states before having alliance discussions.
