AICC general secretary and former union minister V Narayanasamy today asserted that the leaders of the congress –DMK combine should function unitedly to fulfill the promises given to the people during the elections.
Speaking at a function organised to flag off the 21st “Rajiv Jyothi”Yatra near the Gandhi statue on the beach road here today,Mr.Narayanasamy said that the Jyothi Yatra from Karnataka is reaching Puducherry every year on behalf of the INTUC.Raniv Gandhi is the one who encouraged the young generation and if the union government was under his leader India might have become a strong nation years back.It is Rajiv and Sonia who gave proiminance to women in local bodies and it is our duty to fulfill the dreams of Rajiv Gandhi,he said adding that we must give 33 percent reservation for women in parliament and state assemblies.
He said the people gave voctiry to the congress-DMk combine putting faith on it.The people were fed up in the N R Congress government as the chief minister N Rangasamy failed to fulfill any of the 167 promises given.All sections of the people were affected .The GPF of the government employees diverred,SCP for the Adi Dravidar people diverted,backdoor appointments,employment opportunity for people from only one constituency etc were there during his regeme who failed to meet the people.The development of the union territory was backtracked by ten years during the N R Congress rule,he said.People rejected the N R Congress since,he failed to fulfill the promises given for the Lok Sabha elections also,he added.
Narayansamy said the congress had given several promises to the people during this election and the leaders should function unitedly without any difference of openion to fulfill the promises.They should consult together and take a decision on how to fulfill the promises,he added.
He also thanked the people who voted the congress to power.
Earleir, the Jyothi reached the beach road passing through the main thoroughfares of the town.PCC president A Namasivayam presided vo er the function in which legislators Malladi Krishna Rao,K Lakshminarayanan,Kandasamy,Shajahan,John Kumar Theepanthiean,Vijayaveni among others participated.
