Puducherry Police resolved the missing case of a police constable Arunagiri, attached to the traffic wing,which later proved to be a case of murder with the arrest of two persons including the co-brother of Arunagiri.
Senor superintendent of police Rajiv Ranjan told news persons that Mr.Arunagiri went missing on January 10 this year .On a complaint from his wife Neiroja,Lawspet police registered a man missing case on February 2.Speculations were rife that Arunagiri has moved to the Himalayas in search of peace of mind and that he went to France to settle down there for the rest of his life.However,the police found that he had not traveled abroad following which a special team was constituted to go into the case.Surveillance was mounted on the relatives of Arunagiri and his co-brother Sivanandam Robert was found to be a prime suspect.
On interrogation ,Sivanandam confessed of murdering Arunagiri along with his friend Muthuraj and some others and both of them were arrested yesterday.Police are on the look out for the others involved in the crime,Mr.Ranjan said.
The SSP said that Arunagiri was married to the sister-in-law of Sivanandam who arranged the wedding and bore all the expenses.As time passed ,Arunagiri suspected that Sivanandam Robert is having illicit relationship with his wife and he started mis-behaving with Sivanandam.He even started physically attacking Sivanandam and he was living in fear.
Following this Sivanandam along with his friends hatched a plan to get rid of Arunagiri and invited him for a drink on January 10.Both of them went to Navarkulam area where Sivanandam’s friends were waiting.All them had drink and after the drink,Arunagiri was attacked with the bottles on his head killing him on the spot.They carried the body of Arunagiri in the boot of his car and took it to Cuddalore and it was inside the booth for two days.On the third day,they burnt the body at Arisiperiyankuppam,Cuddalore and disposed the ashes in then sea.The motor cycle of Arunagiri was parked at the Villippuram Railway station and Sivanandam pretended to be innocent.
Police also seized the motor cycle of Arunagiri and the car of Sivanandam,Mr.Ranjan said
